This cartoon was prepared for the dining room mural for Charles M Schwab.Chused found the cartoon in pieces in a corner of an estate sale. It was then painstakingly restored to a remarkable pristine condition revealing the gorgeous details of this turn of the century painting. Last photos show cartoon before restorations. Background:In 1901, Charles M Schwab, a successful steel baron, built a 75-room mansion that sat on Riverside Drive in Manhattan. The mansion is remembered as one of the most prestigious mansions in Manhattan. Schwab spent 6 million dollars building the mansion which was an astronomical cost for the early 20th century. The home was filled with ornate details and one-of-a-kind art and furniture. Sadly, the depression forced Schwab to leave his home for more affordable housing. The mansion was bought by a developer, its content sold and then demolished in 1948. less
