All three sections that comprise the fountain have been hand-painted in cobalt blue and white, reminiscent of Delftware that was popular in Europe during the 17th and 18th centuries. The top section is in the form of a French-style dolphin, with a raised tail and a mouth that features a small excavation for a waterspout. Beneath the dolphin’s head is a scalloped shell basin with volute valves that rests upon a foliate column embellished with C-scrolls and subtle fluting. A perfect wall fountain for a covered entryway or foyer, our unique blue and white dolphin wall fountain is a charming example of hand-painted French faience from the 19th century. This piece can also be used as a pedestal sink in a powder room, using contemporary wall mounted fixtures on either side of the dolphin. less
