Sparkling like crystal, this fixture exudes a sense of elegance and style. The overall clean and simple angular cubist shape lends an architectural and modern aesthetic. The 1960s with its Post Modern and pop art movements of geometric forms and bold colors took inspiration from Art Deco. The Art Deco revival extended through the 1970s and 1980s until today. Several fairly newly constructed NYC skyscrapers eg: (The Centrale on East 50th Street, Rose Hill 30 East 29th Street, 25 Park Row in the Financial district, Vandewater in Morningside Heights… are being fashioned after Art Deco design and others are being populated with Art Deco flourishes. After the war, from 1948-1990, it became part of the Eastern Bloc. As a socialist and satellite state of the Soviet Union, it had an economy of command where rules, production … were determined and set by the government. In 1958, Czechoslovakia exhibited in the Brussels World Fair and gained world -wide attention for using modern materials of steel, glass and plastic. The country won the main and several other prizes for its lights. This new style of lighting became known as the Brussels style, a symbol of the golden decade of progress, reform and political liberation.
